Uhambiso combines technical expertise and practical management skills to provide top quality civil engineering design and development and project management services for civil engineering projects on a consulting, partnering or turnkey basis.
Backed by the experience of senior professional staff, Uhambiso Consult (Pty) Ltd offers more than 40 years experience in the planning, design and construction and project management of civil and structural engineering and developmental projects. Our staff’s project experience covers a wide spectrum from the design and management of complex multi disciplinary projects to labour-intensive construction and community based projects.

UC Consult has the following exclusive relationships with the following international companies:
- China State Construction Engineering Corporation South Africa (Pty) Ltd
- FAW Vehicle Manufacturers SA (PTY) Ltd
- Sinoma CBMI Construction Co. Ltd
- Beijing Industrial Designing and researching Institute Co Ltd (BIDR)
- Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd.
All five these companies are large world established companies.
CBMI is a subsidiary company of SINOMA International Engineering Co Ltd. These groups are part of China National Building Material Group Co Ltd (CNBM) who is the largest comprehensive building materials industry group in the world.
CSCEC is the largest construction company in the world.
UC Consult has worked with each of these companies on Southern Africa projects. On some of these projects UC Consult formed joint venture business partnership as EPC partner and as technical adviser to these companies.
BAIC is the third largest motor manufacturing company in the world, with FAW the fifth largest.
These project JV partnerships offer international contractors a one stop professional engineering partner to assist them with the review of China based designs and to transform these designs to South African mandatory regulations and standards, and to develop preliminary Chinese designs and to sign off these designs for municipal and government approvals.
These JV partnerships allow UC Consult to share in the wealth of knowledge and experience of the design engineers from our China based partners and to work with them to transfer China based designs to South African and European standards.
UC Consult partnered with the above Chinese companies on the following projects:
- Chemical Factor with CBMI for Brothers CISA in Newcastle;
- Chemical Factory with CSCEC for Topwell in Durban;
- Shopping Centre with CSCEC for MassMart in Port Elizabeth;
- Truck Assembly Plant with FAW Vehicle Manufacturers in Port Elizabeth;
- Vehicle Manufacturing Plant with BIDR and BAIC IN Port Elizabeth;
Liebenberg & Stander Eastern Cape (L&S Consult)
UC Consult has an exclusive business relationship with Liebenberg & Stander Eastern Cape (Pty) Ltd.
L&S Consult was part of the Liebenberg & Stander Partnership, who was one of South Africa’s leading consulting engineering firms. Liebenberg & Stander was established in 1954 as a partnership but was taken over in 1995 by four separate independent companies, of which L&S Consult was one.
Lesotho based business
UC Lesotho (Pty) Ltd is a Lesotho registered professional consulting engineering and development and project management company. The company was established in 2019 and operates from an office in Maseru.
The company’s shareholders are UC Consult (Pty) Ltd and Phethahatso (Pty) Ltd which hold 75% and 25% of shares respectively.
Phethahatso (Pty) Ltd is a 100% Basotho owned company formed by directors in different sectors of the Lesotho economy. Its core business is in the infrastructural design and construction and project management across all sectors of the economy.
Zimbabwe based business
The company has an exclusive relationship with Ncube Burrow Civil Engineers. Ncube Burrow operates from Harare in Zimbabwe.
The purpose of this relationship is to combine and share resources and experience to work together on projects in Zimbabwe and the neighboring Zambia, Botswana and Mozambique.
Ownership and Management.
Uhambiso Consult (Pty) Ltd is a South African Company. All the shares in the company are held by staff who are permanently employed by the company. Forty five percent of shares are owned by Previous Disadvantaged Individuals (PDI’s) and 25% of this shareholding by females. George Gerber (PrEng, PrCPM) is the Managing Director responsible for the day to day operation of Uhambiso Consult (Pty) Ltd. 33% of the Directors are PDI.
